When you hear the word hair transplant or hair restoration, you typically think about hair surgery for the top of the head. While the majority of hair transplant surgery is for the scalp, facial hair restoration and facial transplants including mustaches, goatees, beards, sideburns and eyebrows are growing in popularity.
Today, more and more men are a turning to facial hair hair transplants for a more masculine look. This global craze is overshadowing a clean-shaven look.
This transplant can be a great option for you if you have no facial hair, barely grow stubble, or you need to fill-in some patchy areas that need more density.
More and more men and women are also adding hair to their thin or non-existent eyebrows. This can be due to over-plucking or just bad genetics.
Beard & Goatee Hair Transplant
A beard hair transplant is very similar to a scalp hair transplant. Dr. Bruce Marko MD, a board-certified hair restoration surgeon, will artistically design your goatee, beard eyebrows, etc., with a grease pencil. Hair is extracted from the donor area on the back or sides of your head, then transplanted into the recipient sites created by the surgeon.
The amount of time it takes for facial hair transplant is based on the amount of hair necessary to do the job. An eyebrow procedure can take about 3 hours to complete, while a full beard could take as long as 6-8 hours depending on the beard density and the area you want covered.
Once transplanted, your new facial hair will grow start to grow in about 4 months, and it will continue to fill-in up to the one year mark.
It is best not shave the transplanted hair for the first 10 days after the surgery. At this time, the transplanted hair looks like stubble. Be aware that this hair will shed within 30 days and your new facial hair will not start growing until approximately 4 months after the procedure. As mentioned previously, it takes about a year for the new growth process to finish.
The benefit of a facial hair transplant is that it gives a permanent result. Your new facial hair will grow for a lifetime.
Have you lost your eyebrows? Are they too thin or even non-existent? Do you want to cover your tattooed eyebrows with hair?
An eyebrow restoration procedure at Advanced Hair Transplants will give you natural looking, beautiful eyebrows that will last a lifetime!
Hair follicles are surgically extracted from the donor area located in the back of your head. These follicles are either extracted one at a time (FUE) or by removing a small strip of donor hair (FUT). With FUT, the grafts are dissected under ‘microscopic magnification’ by our team of expert technicians. The doctor artistically creates the eyebrow design, then recipient sites (tiny slits) are created with a micro-surgical blade. One hair grafts are then transplanted into the recipient sites to create beautiful, natural looking eyebrows.
The eyebrow restoration procedure can take 3-6 hours depending on the size and shape. Tiny crusts (scabs) will form where the hair is transplanted. (We recommend you wear sunglasses if you want to disguise the surgery) These scabs will disappear in 5-7 days, and the newly transplanted hairs will typically shed within 1-2 weeks.
The new eyebrow hair will start growing 3-4 months after surgery, and the entire re-growth process takes 12-15 months. Your new eyebrows will look natural and will grow for a lifetime!
