Prognosis and Treatments for Female Hair Loss Pattern

Although male pattern balding is better known, there is also a female hair loss pattern. It’s a gradual but progressive condition, but treatment can slow or staunch the thinning and hair loss. While hair loss may start at any age, for most women it becomes noticeable once they are menopausal. Your doctor diagnoses female hair loss via a clinical scalp examination and a medical history. He will then advise you on the best treatment for your situation.

Hair Loss Medications

If you are diagnosed with female hair loss pattern, your doctor may prescribe topical Minoxidil, the only FDA-approved drug for treating this issue. Minoxidil helps lengthen the growing phase of hair follicles. While men are prescribed Minoxidil in 5 percent strength, the female version is much lower, at 2 percent.  Women may have to apply the medication to their scalp twice a day for up to a year before noting results. Minoxidil has few, if any, side effects.

Nutritional Supplementation

Certain nutritional supplements and/or dietary changes may increase hair growth or slow the loss rate. Lack of specific nutrients, such as iron, may cause hair loss. Supplements containing biotin and other B vitamins may help restore growth, but consult your doctor before starting any vitamin regimen.

Therapy

“A woman’s crowning glory is her hair,” states the old adage, and hair loss can profoundly affect a woman’s mental and emotional state. If hair loss is causing depression or anxiety, your doctor can prescribe antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications. Counseling is another option, with or without drug therapy. Becoming upset about hair loss is natural, and there’s no shame in dealing with problem either through therapy or medication.

Hair Pieces

For some women, changing their hairstyle camouflages the balding areas. If your own stylist isn’t adept at making these changes, your doctor can recommend someone specializing in this art. If you’re using Minoxidil, you need a style compatible with its regular application. Wigs are another possibility, as are hair extensions to add volume.

Hair Transplants

For some women, hair transplantation surgery can restore their crowning glory. It’s especially effective for women with female hair loss pattern. The procedure involves removing plugs of hair – so-called “donor” plugs – from thicker areas and transplanting them into bald patches. While hair transplantation is expensive, the results are generally quite good, as well as permanent.

Without treatment, you will never restore your hair. Speak with your doctor about the best options for reversing your hair loss.

MAX DENSITY ® Procedure Leaves Undetectable Scar

A quick image search on the internet will show you the disastrous results that can occur when hair transplant procedures are done incorrectly. Noticeable scars following transplantation not only ruin the natural look and feel that many patients want, but they also draw unwanted attention to the area that was treated. In short, in many ways a hair transplant is only as good as the scar that it leaves behind.

This simple fact is what makes Dr. Bruce Marko’s MAX DENSITY® procedure so revolutionary. Through this specialized procedure, Dr. Marko leverages his more than 15 years of experience in the hair restoration industry to give his patients stunning, natural-looking results, complete with a scar that is virtually undetectable.

Whether you’re considering an FUT or FUE procedure, Dr. Marko’s MAX DENSITY® technique will deliver superior results.

For follicle unit transplants (FUTs), the MAX DENSITY® procedure offers, on average, double the hair density that patients receive from traditional FUE procedures. These incredible results are made possible, in part, by the unique harvesting technique that Dr. Marko and his team employ. Using their own specialized harvesting tool, only small linear incisions are required to remove the donor strip, minimizing the size of the resulting scar.

In fact, the scar is so small that it is typically less than two millimeters in width. So even with short hair, most people won’t notice the scar unless they were looking for it, and with long hair it’s practically invisible. These incredible results are what make Dr. Marko and his team unique in the world of hair transplantation.

But this specialized approach to surgery isn’t the only thing that makes Advanced Hair Transplants one of a kind. What also sets them apart is Dr. Marko’s artistic vision and his personal commitment to each and every one of this patients.

Following extraction, Dr. Marko and his team take the time to carefully and artistically render the graft sites so that the hair grows in a natural and aesthetically pleasing way. Through this commitment to excellence, Dr. Marko ensures that each of his patients is satisfied with his or her surgery and that the final result is a natural-looking head of hair.

Between the superior surgical techniques and commitment to excellence, Dr. Marko’s MAX DENSITY® procedure is the clear choice when it comes to hair transplantation. Take Hair Regrowth to the Max with Max Density Hair Restoration

Hair loss and hair thinning are problems that plague millions of Americans. While male pattern baldness accounts for more than 95 percent of hair loss cases in men, women also suffer from hair issues. In fact, female androgenetic alopecia affects 50 percent of women at some point in their lives.

Fortunately, modern medical technology means new options for treating balding and other issues in both sexes. A board-certified hair restoration surgeon, Dr. Bruce Marko boasts almost 20 years of experience in the transplant field. His advanced hair transplants are performed using his trademarked MAX DENSITY® Hair Restoration Procedure. Along with producing a more natural result, the treatment takes less time and results in less post-operative pain and swelling, so patients can get back to their routines sooner.

Here are some of the many advantages associated with using Max Density Hair Restoration over other forms of treatment:

  • Lower prices
  • Faster healing
  • Less-noticeable scars
  • Less anesthesia
  • More hairs transplanted at once

How the Procedure Works

The Max Density procedure is used to reverse hair loss and treat thinning hair. Dr. Marko starts by measuring the donor area of the scalp (usually located in the back or on the sides of the head) and then removing a strip of tissue. This material is called the hair graft. After preparing the graft, Dr. Marko and his team will prepare the graft site and transplant the new hairs. Because he uses “naturally occurring bundles,” there is minimal damage to the follicles. Additionally, he utilizes multi-follicular unit grafts for improved hair density and appearance. Because the scalp is numbed before treatment, Max Density patients experience little to no pain.

With Max Density Hair Restoration, patients can choose from five different levels of restoration known as BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD, PLATINUM and PLATINUM PLUS, with the platinum plans offering the highest number of hairs transplanted. The procedure is generally less expensive than other treatments, as patients are not charge by the hair or by the graft. Instead, Dr. Marko strives to transplant the maximum number of hairs possible in each treatment.

After Treatment

Recovery from Max Density is generally painless, though patients are advised to take a few days off from work to relax. Dr. Marko can provide specific details during a free consultation.
